Dojo Etiquette Print E-mail
  • Etiquette in the martial arts is very important and should be learned and observed at all times.
  • Always conduct oneself with a proper attitude of respect, sincerity and modesty.
  • Always be observant of others so that you can continue to learn the proper etiquette, accept all corrections with due humility. If you are unsure of what to do ask a senior and follow their lead in all matters.
  • Maintain cleanliness. Keep yourself well groomed. Keep finger and toe nails short and clean.
  • Keep training suits clean and in good order.
  • Keep training equipment well maintained. Do not use damaged or broken equipment.
  • Never wear jewellery while training. It is dangerous for you and others.
  • Never wear street shoes on the training mat.
  • Never walk around in your bare feet with the exception of while you are on the training mat.
  • If training shoes are worn while training they should be put on at the edge of the mat. This is to prevent dirt getting on the mat.
  • The mat should be swept before or after classes.
  • What you bring with to the dojo bring away with you, rubbish especially.
  • Please keep quiet when other classes are in progress.
